Cardio Metabolic Diseases for Clinical Officers and Nursing Educators
The global burden of cardiometabolic diseases (CMDs) is rapidly increasing, making it one of the most pressing health challenges of the 21st century. This situation highlights the urgent need for well-trained health professionals who can provide high-quality care and implement effective prevention strategies for CMDs.
The purpose of this course is to strengthen your competencies in the assessment, diagnosis, management, and prevention of cardiometabolic diseases.
It is envisioned that you will transfer the competencies that you will gain through this short course to the many students that you train.
The course duration is 8 weeks of 24 hours each and is organized in 11 modules as follows:
Introductory module: Essentials of cardiometabolic diseases
Module 1: Obesity
Module 2: Dyslipidaemia
Module 3: Diabetes mellitus (Essential concepts)
Module 4: Diabetes mellitus (Management and prevention)
Module 5: Diabetes mellitus (Complications, life cohorts, and special populations)
Module 6: Cardiovascular disease (Essential concepts and Hypertension)
Module 7: Cardiovascular disease (Atherosclerotic disorders)
Module 8: Cardiovascular disease (Heart failure and inflammatory disorders)
Module 9: Metabolic dysfunction-associated Steatotic Liver Disease ( MASLD)
Module 10: Kidney disease
Every module (apart from the introductory module) is structured into sessions.
